Welcome to Xania.biz, a basic introductory guide to the second
major city of Crete, otherwise known as Chania or Hania. Xania
is located on the north west coast of the island and is also the
eponymous capital of the Xania prefecture. Chania sits near Souda
bay and is both a popular tourist destination with attractive
historic architecture and a sizable working city.

Xania has an airport which is served by daily Aegean and Olympic
planes to and from Athens plus many charter flights during the
summer season. You can find more Crete
Flight information here. When it comes to hotel accommodation
you will find everything from cheap and cheerful rooms to five
star luxury on Crete. You can find a number of hotels in the area
bookable through AlphaRooms
- Crete
Must visit. The harbour is extremely attractive and the shopping
is wide and varied. Hania is a proper working city where tourism
is of great importance but Greek life and business is the main
order of the day. Fashion wear, technology shops and private and
public offices can all be found in Xania, in addition to a good
selection of chic bars and tempting restaurants. For those keen
on the outdoors Xania at the western end of the island makes a
good base for exploring the mountains.
Xania.biz is published by the Crete editors from the Make It
Greece network and was launched in 2008. Please note that we are
not a travel agent or holiday company and cannot make accommodation,
flight or other travel and transport arrangements.
